Does UVM Health offer sign-on bonuses?

Who is eligible for a sign-on bonus?

Most often, new hires in full-time or part-time roles (20 to 40 hours per week) may qualify, especially if the role is tough to recruit for.

How much is the sign-on bonus?

Bonus amounts are reviewed regularly to stay competitive and may vary by role and organization

How is the sign-on bonus paid out?

There are a few ways this can work:

  • A single payment after you start
  • Two payments at start and after 6 months
  • Or multiple payments over time, like at hire, 1 year, and 2 years for some clinical roles

Are sign-on bonuses taxed?

Yes. Sign-on bonuses are considered income, so taxes will be withheld.

Do I need to sign an agreement for the bonus?

If you the position you are offered is eligible for a sign on bonus, you’ll review and sign a sign-on bonus agreement as part of your offer and onboarding process.

What happens if I leave before the bonus period ends?

If you leave early or move out of your role, you may lose future payments, and in some cases, may need to repay a portion of what you’ve already received.

Can current UVM Health employees receive a sign-on bonus?

Usually no. Sign-on bonuses are meant for new hires. There are a few exceptions, like certain new grad or role transitions, but they’re limited.

What does the hiring process look like?

It’s straightforward:

Does UVM Health have an Employee Referral Program?

We do! Our program offers bonuses to current employees when they refer a candidate who is successfully hired. The referral bonus is subject to taxes and has distinct payout structure. Referral bonuses are pro-rated for part-time hours. This program is designed for external hires only and does not apply to internal applicants. Both the employee who made the recommendation and the employee who was hired must be employees of UVM Health at the time payouts are disbursed.

Candidates must not have been employed as a regular or temporary employee at any UVM Health partner within the past 3 years. Additional exclusions may apply.
