UVM Health Pathfinder Program - New York

Respiratory Therapist (RT) Pathway Program at University of Vermont Health

Ready to further your education?

Pathfinder is a partnership with Community College of Vermont and is funded by a generous grant from the New York State Department of Health. This program will be available to employees of all UVM Health NY Partners.

Pathfinder is intended to serve as a pipeline for employees to access future Nursing Pathway Programs with North Country Community College and Clinton Community College.

This opportunity is contingent on grant funding from the NYSDOH. We have been notified we have received this award, but it has not been finalized. The program is not guaranteed until the grant has been finalized.

What is the purpose of this program?

This program will support employees who are seeking to enter a nursing program with North Country Community College or Clinton Community College. Participants will begin taking prepaid preparatory courses, prerequisites, and corequisites through CCV. For example, if you’re thinking about getting started in the Clinton Community College RN Program through a future NY Nursing Pathway Program, Pathfinder could fund up to the four required preparatory courses!

Program Details

Employees who are accepted into the Pathfinder Program will receive up to four prepaid vouchers. These vouchers can be used towards pre-selected courses with CCV.

A selection of eight identified class options will be offered in partnership with CCV. Participants can access courses online or in-person. Options consist of preparatory courses, prerequisites, and corequisites all of which are intended to support employees in pursuing a nursing program.

Pathway participants will need to be prepared to apply to a UVM Health Pathway Program, however participation in Pathfinder does not guarantee admission into future UVM Health Pathway programs or at any educational institutions.

I’m interested in pursuing a UVM Health Pathway Program and I’ve taken college coursework in the past. Do I need to retake any courses?

Possibly, depending on the timeframe and your grades and the UVM Health Pathway Program that you intend to pursue. CCV will review the courses and grades on your transcript and meet with you.

Once I am enrolled in the Pathway Program, are there any tax implications that I should be aware of?

Amounts paid under this Program have tax implications. Amounts that are paid to you, or your educational institution towards tuition, academic fees, books, supplies, or other related expenses, constitute payments that will be treated as taxable income and subject to all applicable state and federal withholdings should they exceed the annual tax-free threshold for employer-provided educational assistance under Section 127 of the Internal Revenue Code. Appropriate taxes will be applied to any amounts above the annual tax-free threshold by payroll and withheld from your regular paychecks. Please consult your personal tax advisor, as University of Vermont Health cannot provide you with individualized tax advice.

Can I apply for the Pathway Program if I am already actively enrolled and attending the academic program on my own?

Our Pathway Programs are designed to support employees through the entirety of the academic program. Off-cycle enrollments will not be accepted.
