This hybrid role offers a combination of remote work and in‑person responsibilities. The position requires attendance at community‑based events as needed, and candidates must be able to be physically present for these engagements.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Prevention Coordinator will support substance use prevention efforts in Central Vermont, helping rebuild and coordinate substance use prevention infrastructure and activities. Housed at the Central Vermont Prevention Coalition (CVPC), a program of Central Vermont Medical Center, this position will implement, coordinate, and support evidence-based prevention strategies that address substance use and related behavioral health risks across the lifespan. This position complements CVPC’s work in treatment, recovery, and harm reduction to support a more complete system of care for Central Vermont.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in public health, prevention, social sciences, education, or a related field. Master’s preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience in prevention, public health, community health, education, or a related field.
- Experience working with coalitions, community groups, or multi-sector partnerships.
- Experience coordinating programs, initiatives, or community-based activities.
- Experience providing education, facilitation, or presentations to community groups preferred.
- Familiarity with evidence-based prevention strategies and/or public health approaches preferred.
- Experience using data to inform programs or community initiatives preferred.
Knowledge/Special Skills:
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of community partners.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across organizations and systems.
- Experience using data or information to inform planning and decision-making.
- Ability to support group discussions, meetings, or trainings.
- Commitment to community-centered prevention approaches.
- Valid Vermont driver’s license and ability to travel locally.
