JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Midwifery Education Program Director, the Midwifery Education Program Coordinator supports the education program by managing the day-to-day operations. This is achieved by ensuring compliance with the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME) requirements and hospital regulations, including record/report completion and performance evaluations.

Responsible for the efficient and effective supervision of the Midwifery Education Program as outlined in the ACME Criteria for Accreditation Requirements. Serves as a liaison between students, the Program Director, faculty, and other hospital departments. Ensures that recruitment, orientation, scheduling, and credentialing processes are successfully implemented. Assists Program Director with individual student compliance with academic requirements and hospital regulations.

Maintains records/reports and ensures completion of the entire evaluation system including, performance evaluations. Assists faculty with planning and organization of conferences, retreats, and symposia, and independently manages special projects as required.  Seeks information from program director and key clinical faculty and updates website. Communicates with educational leaders as needed.  Knows organizational development sufficient to assist program leadership in the administration of an education program.

EDUCATION

Associate degree required, Bachelors preferred

EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of healthcare and/or healthcare education

1-3 years of education experience in an academic hospital setting is helpful.

Experience in higher student education is helpful.    

KNOWLEDGE/SPECIAL SKILLS

The Midwifery Education Program Coordinator is the first point of contact for the program and must possess excellent organizational skills, have the professional ability to manage multiple simultaneous ongoing programs demands, and skillfully interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds. They must be proficient in prioritizing both short- and long-term goals. Must be able to work effectively in a fast paced, rapidly changing healthcare and training environment. They must be knowledgeable about human resource management and possess excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.  They must be skilled in MS Office applications, and project management skills are necessary.
